The short version: we keep the least we can, we never sell it, and you can delete all of it from Settings whenever you like. The longer version is below, in plain words.
What we keep
- A username and a device id. That is your whole account. No email, no password, nothing to forget.
- Where you were when you photographed a cat. That is what puts the cat on the map and works out whether it is one your neighbours have already met. We only look while the app is open.
- The cat photos you take. They become the cards you collect, and they show on that cat’s page for other finders.
- What you have done in the game. Cats found, points, friends.
- A phone number, only if you offer one. It exists so your chonks survive a new phone.
- A push token, only if you turn notifications on.
What we do with it
Run the game. Put cats on the map, build your collection, work out the leaderboard, and tell you when a friend finds something. That is the whole list. We do not sell your personal information and we do not hand it to advertisers.
Making the cards
Your photo goes to the service that writes the cat’s card: its name, its stats, its silly attacks. It is used for that and nothing else, and never to work out who a person is.
Where the cats live
Cat locations are the one thing we are strict about, because a cat is a real animal on a real street. We never show the exact spot of a cat you have not found yourself, and whoever discovered a cat can hide its pin from the map completely.
What you can do
- Turn notifications on or off in Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings, under Delete account. It takes your personal information with it, and there is no undo.
